Traveling to Lyon

Lyon is easily accessible by train and plane. Note that coming by train from Paris airport (and a few other cities in Europe) can be significantly faster than taking a plane to Lyon from there. This is also more environmentally friendly.

  • By train: The main train station is Lyon Part-Dieu, with direct trains from Paris (2h), Paris-CDG airport (2h), Geneva (2h), Nice (5h), Frankfurt (6h), and 1-stop trips from Turin (4h), Zurich (5h), Milan (6h), London (6h), Barcelona (6h).
There are also 3 additional train stations in Lyon (Perrache, Saint-Paul, Jean Macé), and 1 more at the international airport (Saint-Exupéry).
  • By plane: Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) international airport is located about 25km at the East of the city center, and is connected to Lyon Part-Dieu train station by a direct express tram (30 minutes by Rhônexpress).
Paris (CDG) international airport is also directly connected by train (2h) to Lyon Part-Dieu central train station.
  • Public Transports in Lyon

Lyon is well-connected with metros, tramways, and buses. Cycling is also easy in Lyon, with Velo'v city bikes (1-day ticket for 4€). Tickets for metro/tramway/bus can be bought in all metro and tramway stations. Tickets for the airport express train can be bought at each stop of the line or online. Citymapper can be useful to plan your daily trips in Lyon as combining different modes is often the fastest solution. For detailed information, please refer to the following links:
